Adaptive and Inclusive Music Education for Special Learners
Led by Paula Berner and Jessica Ingraham, this workshop answers the question, “How do we help special learners find success in the music classroom?” Participants will come away with a deeper understanding of neurodiversity, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), as we look at understanding the diagnosis and the student. Then we’ll explore the differences between adaptations and modifications and how we can use them in our lesson planning and instruction to help special learners find success. We’ll review some best-practices for managing difficult behaviors and sensory-meltdowns in the music room, followed by a group discussion and brainstorming session.
This workshop is available both in-person and online.

Sensory Awareness Training
Led by Paual Berner, Sensory Awareness Training is perfect for anyone looking to learn more about their senses and Sensory Processing Disorder. This workshop is highly recommended for organizations, especially in the performing arts, looking to be more inclusive of people of all abilities.
This training is approximately two hours and is available both in-person and online.
